Hapag-Lloyd’s Boxship Hits Three Ferries in Santos

Neopanamax containership Santos Express, owned by German shipping company Hapag-Lloyd, has collided with three ferries while entering the Port of Santos, Brazil.
The incident occurred in the evening hours of May 6 when the 10,500 TEU boxship reportedly went off the fairway.
At the time, the 2017-built vessel was entering the port under pilot guidance, according to Hapag-Lloyd.
The company said that there were no reports of injuries following the incident, adding that the matter is currently under investigation.
The 116,000 gross ton containership damaged the three ferries “that lay on the shore” and itself suffered some damage on the painting of the starboard side.
Santos Express continued its voyage from Santos to Paranagua on May 7.
