Keelung Port Branch of Taiwan International Ports Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Keelung Port Branch) actively supports the government’s “2050 Net-Zero Emissions” policy.
Following the completion of Phase 1 of its Smart Energy Management System in 2024, the branch launched Phase 2 in 2025.
This phase includes the installation of solar photovoltaic facilities, replacement of outdated central air conditioning systems,
enhancement of equipment communication infrastructure, and software system development at Keelung, Taipei, and Su’ao ports,
further advancing intelligent energy management and promoting energy generation and conservation at the three ports.

Keelung Port Branch stated that Phase 2 of the Smart Energy Management Project expands upon the achievements of Phase 1 by broadening its scope and benefits.
Approximately 200 smart meters will be installed to delineate energy responsibilities and facilitate carbon tracking. In addition,
outdated air conditioning units over 15 years old will be replaced at seven locations, including the Keelung Port Passenger Center and Taipei Port Administration Building,
with top-tier energy-efficient chillers and high-efficiency pump motors. AI-based intelligent controls will also be implemented,
which are expected to save 1.2 million kWh annually and reduce carbon emissions by approximately 569 metric tons.

In terms of renewable energy, the project includes the construction of three solar power systems within the port areas,
with a total installed capacity of 850 kW. These systems are expected to generate approximately 710,000 kWh of green electricity annually,
reducing carbon emissions by about 337 metric tons. On the software side, AI-driven air conditioning management and energy generation systems will be developed.
Key improvements include enhanced demand forecasting, optimized equipment monitoring, real-time alerts for anomalies,
and automated energy reporting—all contributing to a comprehensive and flexible smart energy management platform.

Keelung Port Branch emphasized that the procurement selection for Phase 2 was completed on May 19, 2025.
Construction is scheduled to begin in June and be completed by the end of 2026.
This initiative will elevate smart energy management to a new level and serve as a benchmark for smart port development across Taiwan.
The energy saved and generated through the project can support the annual electricity needs of approximately 482 households. Looking ahead,
the branch will continue to integrate more innovative technologies to build a modern port that is smart, green,
and sustainable—aligning with national policies and progressing toward a net-zero future.
